Homemade Food

Crap.  In the last post… I was suppose to post pictures of our recent homemade food experiments, but didn’t because the post got too long… so here they are now!

Enjoy!

This is our homemade Alton Brown Meatloaf.  I never really enjoyed meatloaf as a kid, but this recipe is the bomb diggity.  It includes a ketchup/brown sugar glaze which is divine. :)

Mashed Potatoes. Again, something which I prefer instant to homemade, but in Kazakhstan homemade is the way to go… so yummmmy.  Also, even better when whipped with a 500 tenge mixer!

The full meal.  I forgot to make the broccoli, but it was still good.  And now we have broccoli for another meal! woot.

Homemade Granola.  This is my go-to recipe for large gatherings or a quick dessert.  It usually tastes great as long as I don’t burn it. ;)

Nick, scraping the mashed potato bowl clean. :)

Plov.  That’s right baby.  This was my fourth try and I think it turned out rather great!  Nick and I just had plov in the cafeteria at my school and I have to say… mine was better. ;)

Nick’s flatbread.  Lee-pee-osh-ka ain’t got nothing on him.

Pesto Pasta and Carrots.  Pretty simple meal.  Boil pasta. Add pesto. Bowl carrots. Plate. But, soooo yummy.

Again, with the granola. :)

My attempt at fried rice.  Brown rice, carrots, onions, egg, soy sauce + bacon bits.. lol. It was pretty delicious too!

Chili.  But not just your average homemade chili.  This was THE BEST CHILI EVER MADE.  You should ask Nick about it… seriously, it was the bomb diggity.

Again with the meatloaf… just in case you forgot about it.  It was THAT good.

Also, when you have chili, you CAN’T forget the cornbread.  This cornbread is made with kefir (a kind of runny yogurt) and it was tasty! :)

That’s all for now!  Check back in later… still trying to get pictures of snow-baby-starfish… in a not-creepy way. :)  Have a great day!
