Candy Grams at Murager

I remember back in middle school when the school council would sell Candy Grams.  I remember hoping that I’d get one (knowing that at least I had to get one from my girlfriends, but secretly hoping to get one from that special boy)…

Well, today, at Murager (my school), I shared the cultural tradition of Candy Grams.  My Mom has very speedily (in ONE day I might add) bought and shipped a crap-ton of Valentine’s Day candy (which hasn’t arrived quite yet, but it hasn’t been two weeks…) and I made 8 different types of Valentine’s Day cards for my students to choose from (with Nick’s help!).  I took my Word Documents to an awesome print shop and had them create the cards there (kind of expensive, but they look great… and we’re not in it for profit, we’re in it for fun!).

So.. today was the big day.  Yesterday my counterpart and I made a sign and it is pretty cute.  We set up during the big break (which is 40 minutes) and BOO-YAH the selling began.  We started with 160 Valentines… and we’re down to 20.  For some reason Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga weren’t that popular… lol.  Whoops.

So… our grant total today… was 6,800 tenge [in 40 minutes] (sounds like a crap load… it’s about $45), but hey if we keep this up we’ll have the candy paid for in NO time. :) I’d just like to add the most we COULD have made today is 8,000 if we sold every. single. one.

Here are some photos. I love my kiddos.

I love how the Valentine is right in the middle of this photo.  Perfect!

These are the different kinds… I was super surprised that the red heart in the top right corner was the first to sell out!

I would love to also take the opportunity to brag about my amazing students that ran the entire show!  I couldn’t have done it without them!  The entire V-Day card was in English and the students had to write a V-Day message in English.  They were absolutely perfect!
