*we have a Peace Corps Kaz policy that if there are more than 8 Americans together we must call someone on the staff to let them know… just in case*
“Hello, Staff Member (name omitted)? It’s Corinne, just letting you know we have about 16 Americans together at a cafe in Karaganda.” -me (obv.)
“Wow. Really? 16? That’s a lot. What’s going on that so many Americans are there?” -Staff
“Well, not really sure… everyone was just in town so it was arranged that we’d all have dinner together.” -me
“Well, thanks for calling. Be safe. (some other things about not getting into trouble…)” -Staff
“Well, I mean.. it’s mostly girls.. we’re not going to do anything CRAZY.” -me
“Sometimes that’s worse. Anyway, have a great night.” -Staff
Needless to say… we didn’t do anything crazy except for drive the waiter crazy with our requests to take THE MEAT out of a few meals.
